Teachers can be extremely good. However, like any school there are some average and not so great teachers.

Academics are tough in a good way. Mykids have become excellent writers and have a broad understanding of math, science and social studies. With this, I was very pleased! However, the art class is terrible, very dry and boring, and the technology class designed poorly.

The special ed dept is weak and ineffective. They were more out of compliance than in. They also depend highly on the parent as free labor. We were forced to leave when I was asked to scribe for two children at the same time, while concurrently also doing all the accommodations they weren't honoring in the IEP.

Initially when they were a much smaller school, they handled the special education students well, but as they grew to twice the size, it became clear, in my humble opinion, they couldn't seem to keep up with students needs.

CCA is truly an incredible school. I have been a part of this community for 6 years now and every year gets better. I was a student who was moving a lot/bullied. Cyber school turned to be my only option, but also the best one. I'm offered a great and safe community, an easy-to-use website, amazing teachers, and endless classes I may not be offered in a public school! I can work at my own pace and have plenty of resources that help me if I ever feel clueless about anything. CCA ensures every student is making high progress and being happy while doing it. Alongside regular classes there are even great clubs that allow students to be hands on with what they love to do, rather virtual or even in person. Every aspect of CCA is great and I've even had a handful of friends join the school over the years. I'll be graduating next year and I'm sad to go. I've loved every minute spent learning in this school and I truly believe they have helped shape me into a better learner and a better person.
I had a great experience with CCA! I transferred to them for my last two years of high school, and the transition from traditional brick-and-mortar school to cyber school was so easy. The teachers are wonderful and very helpful. Plus, there is a lot of variety in the course selection for high school students. I took American Sign Language Levels I and II, courses that weren't offered at my local public high school. I grew so fond of it that I'm now planning to major in it! It was an opportunity that would have been lost if I would have stayed at my local high school. CCA offers great schedule flexibility as well. Overall a great experience - thank you Commonwealth Connections Academy!
