I am currently a sophomore at CHS and i can say i’ve had a great time here. I would say our JROTC program is the club and thing at Columbia. It really helps with college and life preparedness. The instructors are really engaged with cadets and their wellbeing. Columbia is a great school to be at if you apply yourself. The teachers only care about you if you actually try, if you don’t then they’re not going to help as much. The sports are great overall except football. Our school is very diverse which is great for the students. The 9th grade administrator is wonderful and so is the principal. Overall , if you’re someone who wants to go somewhere in life and tries, columbia is the place to be.

Unfortunately, like any high school there were issues in bullying when I attended. Mental health issues were presented to me in the form of my classmates. It is a school that needs all the positive vibes it can get! It has a reputation among other high schools in the community that isn't always the best.
I am currently a senior, and have been in Huntsville City Schools since. I have seen the ups and the downs. Currently we are struggling to get out of a down. Thanks to some poor decisions of past superintendents, we are currently millions of dollars in debt, and what money we do have it is spread out to certain schools while others are completely ignored, such as Columbia. Despite this, because of my position in student government, I have been able to meet with our new superintendent and I do have hope for the future and even after I graduate this year, I will continue to support Huntsville City Schools as long I remain in North Alabama.
