Columbia High School is a small town high school. I like it because everyone knows everyone (teachers included). It's not easy to get lost, and all of the teachers are very dedicated to making sure you get the best education possible!
The teachers and staff are amazing they actually care about their students. And the success of their students. However I wish there were more programs and classes to choose from.
It's a small school so I know just about everyone there. Classrooms are small so teachers are always able to help everyone!
It has a small school and a small town feel. The community is involved and supportive. There isn’t the normal cliches you see in other high schools. Everybody has known each other for years, it feels more like a family. The opportunities while more limited in choices are more open in acceptance. You have more of a chance to get into a club or onto a team that in other larger schools. There are great teachers and administrators to help guide you through your high school experience as well.
Its a small school so teachers pay attention and care about the success of the student. Since the school is small its quite easy to make friends, and everyone knows each other.
The small school aspect is great in the way that you know everyone there and all the teachers, but not so great because there isn’t the same access to more challenging classes.
The teachers are great, and the academics are okay, but our building is falling apart. The walls in the biology lab and the band room are messed up because there was mold in the walls, our English teacher has to put a bucket on the floor when it rains because the roof leaks, and our auditorium doesn't meet safety codes. It's hard to get things done because the school has an overall aura of procrastination, and a lot of the time it seems like people- teachers and students both- don't care about the school, but the people are good and we get a refinished gym every year, so there's that.
Going to school at Columbia High School it is a small school where everyone has grown up together. The teachers care about you in and outside of school. Playing sports, especially basketball, have been a big impact in my life growing up and building relationships with many people. The community comes together to support our school and having their support has always been a great impact in our strive for success.
This school is not equipped with a whole bunch of security. We do not have metal detectors or have to wear our student ID's. I personally feel very safe there's even without all of this though.
Columbia High School is not a very big school, and that has many advantages. Everyone knows everyone and it is not hard or weird to have friends that have all sorts of different interests from you. Sports players are close with band members or theatre people. By having such a small school it is a great experience for sports since you are going to be seeing a lot of the same people in the different sports you play. Being in this small school has helped me gain confidence and the best high school experience I could ask for.
Teachers at Columbia High School are overall very helpful. Because it is a smaller schools, teachers have the opportunity to create great one on one relationships with their students. They have time to help struggling students and are open to explaining material over again in a different way if someone does not understand fully. All have their own grading criteria but they stick to that same process all year long. Any teacher is easy to talk to and staying after school is almost always an option. Not only do they create good relationships in the classroom, but they also are very involved in extra curricular activities. They either attend them often or are even a part of one or more.
I always feel safe and not pressured at school.
Offers some sports and very few other options.
Although the teachers have an excellent teaching style the entire school is filled with superficial cliques that make the overall experience of high school demanding. The school definitely has a bullying issue that it has trouble addressing.
Most teachers actually communicate with their students instead of immediately giving up on them. Their lectures keep students intrigued and avoid difficultly understanding material. Overall the experience the teachers give the students is high quality.
Students are very involved with extra-curricular activities and strive to help each other become better students.
The quality of the teachers at our school is great. The communications skills are poor, but they are very knowledgeable and interested in the students.
