The teachers are excellent. They are responsive, supportive, and communicate regularly about expectations and progress. The administration is friendly and gets to know everybody. We need to re-think the food provided in our schools to include more fresh vegetables and improved selection, which would be a benefit to long-term community health. The facilities are adequate; however, more financial support is needed for the expanding number of students and activities which lack dedicated space. In the end, the dedicated people (teachers, students, and administration) make for a top-rated educational experience.

In my experience, Columbia Heights High School is a great high school. The student body is very diverse and we all celebrate our differences. The teachers are welcoming and really put in an effort to connect with their students; they're very invested in our success. There is a vast variety of Advanced Placement classes offered at Columbia Heights which as a student, I can appreciate. Things I would like to see changed at Heights are the lack of support in certain extracurricular activities and the improvement of our art spaces. People are invested in our football and basketball programs and I would like to see more students attending theater performances and both competitive and synchronized swimming meets. Also our performing arts center needs updating as well as our band room.
I like this school, the students are very nice and the teachers are very helpful. But, the reason why I didn't give this 5 stars was because this school seems to be missing something. It's seems to be missing a push, a push for kids to try to challenge themselves, a push to do better in school. It just seems that sometimes the people in school just doesn't really care about student's futures. They talk about it all the time but they don't really seem to do much to help. If this were to be fixed, I would rate this school 5 stars for sure!
