Erwin High has been a wonderful experience for me. I am really enjoying my high school years. I have been involved with the band for 5 years and really like playing the trumpet. I am also in ROTC as my plan is to go into the military as an officer and receive my degree in business management and possibly nursing.
Playing the trumpet has given me the opportunity to be involved in community efforts as playing at the Charles George VA Medical Center during Veterans Day. They usually use a trumpet and play a CD, but this year I was asked to play Taps on my trumpet while in uniform. My mother is a disabled Dessert Storm Veteran and also works there. I also volunteered at the VA hospital for 2 years and have given over 150 hours to the Veterans.
Review Clyde A. Erwin High School
As a student athlete I have seen the effect of team life on students. Some respond very well and rise to the occasion by doing better in their academics, others fall behind and are only part of the team because they are good athletes, not good students. The coaches at the school are high pressure coaches, that need to be monitored more closely and reigned in more often. The sports teams are the highest income for the school, so other clubs and organizations seem to get left out of funding or sponsor ships from the community, due to the sports teams dominating. I have had a good experience at this school because I have always made sure I choose wisely and continue to push myself beyond what is just expected of a student here. We have great English teachers that make learning fun, and our History teachers do the same. I wish all the students could have a good high school experience as I have had.
I like some of the teachers there. The things that they could work on would be the administration and how they treat students. Also, let's bring SMART lunch back!
