As a student of CMS I can tell you that there can be nice and accepting people. But they do not allow small acts of pda(public display of affection) and the teachers are sometimes more harsh on the students than necessary. Being there I have been made fun of and ridiculed for my athletic ability and the things I like and do. I am in the middle of my 8th grade year here and I do not recommend this school for students who look to be academically inclined, the "advanced" classes are not too hard and are basically the same as any other class. The only "advanced" class that has challenged me is algebra. I've had a few teachers make fun of me also. But behind all of that there are a few nice and accepting people. If you're actually reading this, I DO NOT recommend this for your child no matter how nice the faculty may seem.
This school is bad for my child's mental health and self esteem. He/she has been verbally abused, harshly punished in comparison to the offense, and accused of misbehavior without any proof. Other parents have confided to me me that they have felt the same way in regards to their child. Students have even been kicked out of class for forgetting to return homework. Tell me how that makes sense! There has been the rare gem of a good teacher, but it is far and few between. I've had more than one teacher tell me they hated their job and didn't want to be there. Bad morale here and school administrators are the ones who set the tone.
No major problems here that I know of. Nothing outstanding either. My kids haven't had many problems with other students; it's been the adult staff that have been not as accepting. I don't feel staff goes out of their way to include my student, but he's not excluded either. We've not experienced any racism here either.
