Clemente is a school in my community that most of my older family members have attended. The students are mostly Puerto Rican as the community. I transferred to Clemente as a Junior and was surprised of the size of the school. It has 8 floors and one of the only high school in Chicago that has escalators. It has 2 gyms, pool, and a baseball field. Now a senior, I was disappointed on how unprepared they were on getting students ready for college. We had senior seminar which was a class that was going to help us apply to college and scholarships. Senior seminar consisted of watching movies instead because the school didn't have a teacher for this class. Something I would change from Clemente is college readiness and for the staff to be more prepared.

My experience with Clemente High School has been average. Although some of the teachers are great there is a lot of unpleasant memories that I have with this school. In my sophomore year my Spanish class was left without a teacher for months. Since there was no teacher, for half of the year I was learning nothing in that class but I was still forced to be there. There are many fights that happen in the school and it make it a bad environment to travel to and from class. The administration is rude to the students, insult them and belittle them often.
The school is okay. Throughout my years at Clemente, I have grown in many ways. Academically, I've grown in knowledge of each subject. Though I may not always be excited to learn what they are teaching, what is taught is usually valuable in some shape or form. The school doesn't have any interesting classes or a variety of sports or clubs. The school does prepare students for college, the food is terrible.
