I've been enrolled through Claymont since kindergarten, and I will be a senior this coming year. Obviously, as a kindergarten student, I didn't have a choice as to where I went to school. But in all honesty, I would not have chose differently. I have met some of the best teachers and leaders throughout this district. They have helped me become the person that I am, especially my band director. The teachers at Claymont, are extremely personable and will help you with any problems that you are having. In this district, I have met my best friends, and I would not trade them for the world. With all of the good, there are some things that need to change. One thing I would request from Claymont to change is how the classes are set up. We have to have x amount of classes, but we don't have alternative classes. Instead of having a different history, (such as holocaust history etc), we must participate in the basic courses first. Other than that, Claymont has been a good place to grow.
The school has some very caring teachers who are truly great at their job. Diversity is very low with a high majority of students and teachers being white. There are many clubs offered for every type of interest. The principal, Amy Conn is very understanding and caring and does a very well job.
I really like Claymont because you are given a great amount of freedom to grow and learn who you are as your own person, becoming an adult. At our school, we have a class on personal finance, which I think is a tremendous idea so that our students can have a better idea when they come to financial issues.
