Clay-Battelle is just what you would expect from a small, hometown school in West Virginia. Your history teacher is your probably father’s best friend from high school, and the cook may very well be your grandma. For what we lack in size, the hometown feel and pride runs deep in every student. The sports we play are with the same athletes as the last sport in season. The teachers we see on Friday nights we also see Saturday, when we spend the night with their children, and the student who sits next to us in chemistry. However, as a senior, I feel I am lacking many skills it takes to be a college student. The level of difficulty at Clay-Battelle isn’t what I’d expected in my four years here. Some teachers are amazing and push you, however others simply show a PowerPoint, and can’t wait to shut the door behind you when the bell rings. Many times a problem is brought up to the administration, only to be handled at their convenience or never solved at all.

Clay-Battelle is full of some of the most closed-minded and ignorant people I have ever met. But that's not all, the teachers are horribly underqualified, the principal is a Grade A perv and the students and underprepared for college or even their high school exams. The school only cares about the sports programs, particularly football, while places like the library are understocked and haven't been remodeled since it was built, but they got a new $1 million football field.
Clay-Battelle high school is in a very small community in Blacksville, WV. Clay-Battelle takes pride in there sports and there is a lot of family involvement in school activities. The community is very friendly, and everyone knows every ones name. It is a great small school.
