Classical School of Wichita Reviews
Rating 4.43 out of 5 7 reviews
Strong academics, but challenging in class sizes of 20+. If your child struggles with a concept, it is the parents responsibility to teach the material. Parents are responsible for paying for and finding a tutor outside of the school day. Grades do not recover from missing school because of the fast-paced curriculum. Competitive children who are organized, healthy, and academically gifted will like the intense environment and interesting curriculum. The campus is overcrowded which might not be comfortable. Your child should shadow a full day before making a decision. Homework is several hours a night beginning in second grade. School is your identity as a family here. Sports and some activities are offered. Art and Choir are mandatory. There are electives like band, Financial Peace. The campus is spread out in a neighborhood. It is located by a major highway so families from all parts of town can attend. No school bus or lunch, breakfast program. They have a vending machine.
The small environment creates an opportunity for students to form better relationships with the majority of their classmates. Teachers are very friendly and you can have more one-on-one instruction time. Teachers care more about your understanding of a topic rather than just learning the material to do well on a test. Overall, it is a very welcoming school, and with all of the classes, it broadens one’s worldview. Students are given the opportunity to grow in their faith and grow in knowledge of their savior. This school has a lot of work, but when the time is put in, it is truly rewarding.
I have attended this school for 13 years. Although that means I have never experienced a different place and, therefore, have nothing to compare it to, I can say that I do not doubt walking into the real world with a firm foundation on truth, diligence, and brotherly love. It’s a wonderful place for learning, teaching, and even seriously debating in a friendly, but authoritative environment. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Classical School of Wichita, and hope to one day send my kids there.
