A warm, safe and caring environment in beautiful Amherst Village. Facilities are a bit worn and need an upgrade, but schools are people and this school has some of the best.

AMS is a very good bridge between our very good elementary schools, and our progressive and outstanding high school ... Souhegan. The best part about AMS are the longstanding class traditions like our week long Environmental Camp in 6th Grade, the Ferry Beach Ecology Trip in 8th Grade, many, many student dances with a 40 year tradition of dancing to Stairway to Heaven at the end, excellent sports and an emerging STEM program lead by the Susan G. Stitt Global Science Initiative. The only thing that could be changed is infusing younger, more passionate and modern teachers in some grades. The teaching is excellent overall, but there are a few teachers who are "long in the tooth". Fortunately, the administration and school board is bringing in a youthful vigor which is much appreciated for an already excellent middle school.
Great teachers, wonderful staff, and really invested time into the readiness of their students. Encouraged learning and also play.
