Overall effective in achieving test scores, however, it is what seems to be focused on the most. As with many schools currently, we are not really learning much, instead, we are memorizing information for a test. Though this issue has improved over the years, it still seems to be a significant issue. Many students have also been shown to be immature, even for their age, stealing bathroom equipment as well as using illegal substances within the school without any repercussions.
As far as high schools go, it's not too bad. Most teachers are great, know what they're talking about, expect much and yet are pretty understanding. There's a wide variety of classes to take at any level. Plenty of genuinely friendly and smart people.
There are some downsides, tho. I transferred from a small private school in the middle of a pandemic, and it's really easy to feel lost and lonely if you don't get plugged into clubs or have a good friend group. You deal with a few double Ivy-league legacy types if you take AP classes, but it's not everyone. Workload is heavy and most students in my classes are stressed and sleep deprived, but I think that's pretty universal for the classes we take. There's a vandalism problem, so now teachers monitor how many people are in the bathroom at once and admin treats us like kindergarteners. If you want something (counseling, information, etc.) you have to take initiative and ask for it yourself, which isn't always a straightforward process.

I am very blessed to have the opportunity to attend Clarence High School. I believe the teachers and staff make the school what it is today. They care about our student body and go out of the way to assist in our progress and success. They do this by providing us resources and guidance. These resources and guidance are not only academic in nature but they also provide us emotional guidance and resources. So, when we graduate from Clarence High School, we are not only prepared academically, but also prepared socially and emotionally.
