The school runs on an academy system: there are three academies (Business, Health and Medical Sciences, and Information Technology and Engineering). In each academy, students take classes focused on the career field they're interested in along with regular classes. I was in the Academy of Business, so I took classes like Accounting. I like the idea, but the system doesn't work. At least for the business academy, most of the classes didn't teach us much and ended up being free periods. The advertising for the academies is basically all BS. Academies are organized so you always have classes with the same people, meaning you rarely get to see people outside of your academy. Most of the sports teams are very clique-y. One exception to this was the cross country team. The theater program, though underfunded, is also great. There are resume building sessions and all juniors are assigned mentors. It's hard to get classes you want if they aren't within the academy pathway.

Clairemont high school offers a great amount of extracurricular activities! I participated in tennis, badminton, dance club, and ASB. Students are always welcome to open new clubs which opens great opportunities for student leadership positions!
Ever since schools have closed, learning has been a real struggle. Many schools have struggled to find ways to have their students get the education they need. Clairemont High School truly achieved online learning. Clairemont was able to not only give me the right education, but also teach me good habits and skills for the future. I learned that I can’t rely on my teachers availability as before and it’s up to me to use the time I have to do the necessary work required. I learned to manage my time efficiently and that I am responsible for getting my work turned in on time. All of these skills that I have picked up from online learning will be very helpful in the future when I am in college. I take this time as a practice until I am out in the real world not depending on anyone to help me. Clairemont high school truly showed me how to be responsible whilst receiving a great education.
