I have never felt unsafe at Clackamas High School. I mostly focused on my academics, which were thorough. I had many classes to choose from, including Career Technical Education. I've taken advantage of the numerous elective options and am grateful that I had that opportunity. I've had a few teachers who were somewhat incompetent, but never genuinely mean. My counselor and teachers are supportive of me and want me to succeed. However, I do feel disconnected from the administration and the school culture and spirit because my school is huge (over 3000 students). I have low school spirit. My school also isn't diverse, which is unfortunate, but neither is Clackamas, so CHS can't really do anything to fix it. We have several fantastic programs: sports teams that consistently place well at competitions, the choir program is great, and the theater program is amazing. Despite a few downsides, Clackamas High School has provided a pretty good high school experience for me!

It is an overall okay school, there are some VERY BAD teachers that somehow remain on staff, but on the other hand, there are a handful of amazing teachers that genuinely care about their students. It does seem sometimes though that this high school is "money hungry". I mean, there's nothing they won't charge you for (ex. 75$ parking passes for both campuses, $55 yearbook, $20 textbook fee, $30 ASB card, and so so so much more)! The upper level math teachers are never stable, there's always a new one coming in, and ones that are leaving.
Clackamas can be a great place if you take advantage of what it has to offer. As a junior, your counselors (and teachers, if you take time to build a relationship with them) are very invested in your future and want to see you succeed, no matter if that's a four year, joining the military, trade school, etc. A downside would be the fact that there are many incompetent teachers (ahem, math department) who either don't know how to teach or couldn't care to. Many people wait to take certain courses until college because taking them here would sure-fire ruin your GPA. Complaining to the school does absolutely nothing and switching is an headache. Also, the classes and the school itself is ridiculously overcrowded. That aside, if you're an athlete, theater nerd, musician, artist, or anything in between, they've got something for you. Not to mention the AMAZING opportunities through the Sabin Schellenberg courses. I've generally enjoyed my time here!
