My overall experience with CVHS had been amazing. I’ve been involved in ASB, Yearbook, multiple sports, and many different clubs throughout my high school career and they all have taught me that working with your peers is crucial for success. CV’s motto is CLASS: character, leadership, attitude, scholarship and service and I believe that the staff does an amazing job at consistently implementing those values into their teaching styles and overall attitude. The student body is also very positive and most people enjoy participating in the events on campus. If I were to change anything I would change the passing period music or at least switch it up every once in a while. Another thing that I know a lot of people want is to be allowed to paint our parking spots as a senior. I understand it’s a new parking lot but admin is always trying to get us to express ourselves, and if we can’t do it with our clothes, why can’t we with a parking spot you know ?
The school culture at Citrus Valley is pretty good because the students and staff display diversity and inclusion. The energy from teachers and students is evident, and the way the people interact with each other feels genuine. I definitely feel safe on campus and there are many teachers that I feel as though I can trust. Although, college preparations is lacking because the counselors seem to fail to give clear step-by-step instructions on how to apply to colleges and make the most of one's situation. In addition, I believe the school pressures the students excessively to take an absurd amount of AP classes and stress about colleges with very little reassurance. This school would be better if they actually provided the resources in helping students rather than telling them to simply do it.
I am a senior in high school and I love all my teachers at CV! One teacher in particular there, Mrs. Mackenzie, has truly been a mentor and a counselor to me as I have gone through some major changes in my life through high school. The school spirit is amazing and there are amazing opportunities for people to get involved. I am heavily involved in yearbook, newspaper, DIY club (do it yourself craft club) and Jesus at Citrus Club. There is a place for everyone to get involved from clubs to ASB to sports.
