Citrus Valley High School Reviews
Rating 4.02 out of 5 449 reviews
The many outlets and opportunities provided by Citrus Valley has made my time spent here truly memorable. The wide array of student run clubs makes it easy to find a family of friends and feel accepted. The diversity of cultures and backgrounds here creates an atmosphere of acceptance; being yourself is not only tolerated but encouraged! In addition to a flat out lovely student body, the teachers here are the same. When I was going through a hard time, my teachers were compassionate and helped me navigate a way through. As a student I always found it comforting that there was a clear network in place to help students with problems concerning mental health, college, and just about anything. The school acted swiftly on and took seriously all threats of safety, racism, and harassment, creating a sense of security. The only negative aspect of my high school experience here would have to be the food. Somehow they managed to make pizza taste gross :p
Most of the teachers were great and provided and amazing and safe environment! Many of them encouraged me and were always there to help, as well as my counselor. I think the worst part of the experience were the students however, as many didn't respect the school or teachers. I liked the clubs and activities on campus, as well as the festivals, and the dances were nice as well.
Citrus Valley High School is a very good school for college readiness. There are many AP/college prep courses that can help challenge you academically, and there are many resources providing information about college, scholarship opportunities, and more to help your child prepare for their next stage in life. However, there are various amounts of racial issues that occur on campus. There are some racial incidents that both students and teachers had partaken in during my time there. While they bring more diversity with a good population of people of color and the LGBTQ+ community, a very educational ethnic studies class, and clubs like the Black student union and the Asian Student Union, there are still subtle acts of racism that occur. Regardless, the school is very resourceful and beneficial for your child.
