There were three choices of high schools I could attend to when I left my middle school. I've heard different things about each, namely the stereotypes. I wasn't particularly certain on where I wanted to head, as beyond those stereotypes the schools didn't seem different, aside from Andrada's higher focus on trades. I eventually settled on Cienega.
The staff there are excellent, with their talents ranging from amply preparing students for their AP courses to a strong security staff keeping even the most aggressive students from starting fights. Their sports program is excellent, and there is a reason that Cienega's stereotype is they are the best in terms of sports.
Personally, I am academic. I signed up for multiple AP classes and the students are prepared. I feel college ready from this school.

At Cienega, the community is filled with those whose goals are not only to teach about academics, but also about the different important aspects of life. More importantly, teachers at Cienega make it a priority to instill respected and sought after values such as integrity, persistence, and consistency in their students through their own action. From early morning Strength and Conditioning programs to endless working Student Council teachers, there was always a different lesson to be learned from an amazing mentor. After graduating from that highschool, I felt as if my degree was well earned, and well worth the years I spent learning about the values and hardships of my own future and my education. It is the academic journey I had at Cienega that has made me the proud individual that I am today. I will always value the teachers and the education I gained at Cienega High School.
My overall experience has been decent, with only a few things that need fixing. Most teachers are amazing, and actually put effort into what they are teaching (but there are a few that don't). Cienega also has a lot of sports team, and all of them do well. However, the parking lot is awful! More and more people are coming to Cienega, and they refuse to add additional parking. The bookstore constantly sells more passes than they have spots. The school also does not use textbooks, but instead relies on laptops that are given out to every student. This might seem like a good idea on the surface, but a majority of the time there is some problem going on with the computers. Half of my Junior year was spent using my phone instead of my computer, because the internet was down for everyone. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience here at Cienega and would definitely recommend it over any other Vail School District or Tucson School District school.
