The school is fairly nice. There are a lot of people in not a whole lot of space and normally the hallways are very crowded during class change. The teachers and administrators are all very nice there and I only had a few that I remember not liking. I enjoyed my time being there for the most part and the staff made me feel very welcomed. Overall it is a fairly decent school in the district and students were nice, except some instances, but I know other schools were way worse about bullying. I would recommend going there if you live in the area.
I feel like overall I have had a very positive experience at Christiansburg High school. I have been a part of numerous clubs as well as cheerleading. I feel like this made me a big part of the high school experience.
Christiansburg High School is a welcoming environment where they set you up for success. I had lots of opportunities to increase both my educational and life knowledge. Christiansburg High School has given me the chance to take classes that have allowed me to graduate high school with my Associates Degree from New River Community College. I have enjoyed all four years at Christiansburg High School and I am thankful for everything I have learned while in high school.
Christiansburg High School may not be the ideal school in its district. However, I’ve found that if I had attended a different school in the district, such as Blacksburg or East Montgomery, I wouldn’t have succeeded in the same areas that I have here. The arts program at CHS is undeniably the best in our county, as well as our intense English curriculum. The school is one of the most outdated in our county, but there are plans to renovate and repair it. This has put a strain on the students within my year and below, for we have to worry about parking, navigating hallways during construction, and not getting all the benefits of a high school.
Overall, I have had a good time at CHS. Most of the teachers are incredibly nice and they offer a wide range of extracurricular activities such as sports, music, theatre, art, career clubs, and honors societies. CHS is also a blue ribbon school in both band and choir which not every school in the country such as Blacksburg can say. However, one of the main issues that I had with the school was the counseling department. This may be an issue across the country but my counselor would always try and push community college and looked down upon my strive to enjoy fun extracurricular courses like my musical theatre and chamber classes. My family also had an issue with the fact that due to the presence of vaping and vandalism, administrators would lock several bathrooms in an attempt to make it easier to catch students. However, not only did this not really work, it also made finding an open and available restroom easier. But with the remodeling, this rule is going away.
I went to Christiansburg Highschool for all four years. For the most part I had a great education, and teachers who I liked and knew cared about my education. I will say however, the schools building definitely needs and update.
I have learned and grown so much at Christiansburg high school. I have made life long friendships, experienced amazing teachers, and coaches. Throughout my journey at CHS I have learned the value of perseverance and how to overcome obstacles. My teachers helped me through the challenges of Covid-19 and I would not be the person I am today without my experiences at CHS
I enjoyed this school very much, from the social environment to the way the teachers cared. I was a football player at the time so having that energy of people enjoying football during the season was the best for me. Certain teachers cared about how I was doing and how school was and that made me feel welcomed.
Overall, Christiansburg High School is just like every other high school that exists. There isn't really anything special to say. The fine arts usually do really well and many people from the community come out to support the shows and performances. A large portion of the school's budget goes toward the fine arts and football.
I have never had any issues with Christiansburg High School. I think the teachers and administrators genuinely care about the students. They offer really good courses and the counselors are very supportive!
Christiansburg High School has been a great school for me. I am currently a senior and have been attending "CHS" since I was a freshman. Christiansburg High is a very welcoming school and is staffed by excellent teachers and administrators. The teachers take a very active role in trying to make us successful, especially now when school is more different then we could have ever thought. I have developed many great friendships with both students and teachers while attending CHS. I expect to keep these relationships going for a very long time. I am an active member in the athletics and music department at Christiansburg High and I couldn't ask for a better staff. Both my band director, and lacrosse coach have taken so much time to teach me and my peers to be the best musicians/athletes we can be. And last but not least, the guidance counselors. The school counselors have done excellent jobs preparing myself and my peers for the next stages of our lives. I am very thankful for my school.
We are a very active school. We have so many options from fine arts to mechanics. I am apart of the fine arts program and I enjoy all of the events we host and concerts we perform. Our school is very diverse and safe for any student.
The building and facilities are very old and outdated and the school is very overcrowded. If you are interested in a trade, this school has many programs that can get you licensed in that trade by the time you graduate which is a highlight. Other than that, the administration and guidance offices are very hands-off when it comes to preparing you for life beyond high school as you are expected to figure out and handle these plans mostly on your own.
Students are given opportunities to excel in numerous career fields, but can also be limited at points.
My time at Christiansburg High School was a very unique experience. Being one of the only black students at my high school located in an extremely conservative area, was challenging at times. Our school had various issues with racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. Because of the nature of my high school, I learned that not everyone was raised the same. I came from a background of respecting everyone you meet. Christiansburg High School was great in a sense that it taught me that I needed to branch out and get away from the area. Meet new people with different views, go to different places, experience new atmospheres. Although I was nominated for homecoming court four years in a row, I still felt very small and unseen because of the racial dynamic of the school. I think Christiansburg needs to find ways to teach diversity and teach basic human decency. Racism and homophobia is taught, and the more we branch out and experience people from all walks of life, the more we understand them.
I'm a junior at Christiansburg High School. A lot of the clubs at the school are really great and well involved with many school activities. In my opinion, I like all of the different choices in electives and clubs at the school. If I could change anything about Christiansburg High School, then I would change the way some of the teacher's teach. For example, I would make it required for teachers to give out study material for every test and to have at least one day of review before any big test.
Chrisiansburg High is a pretty average school. The school is very over crowed though and there needs to be a new building.
