From the minute we stepped into the school for our interview 12 years ago we have been nothing but impressed with Christian Community School. They have lived up to their mission statement. "As a support to evangelical Christian families, the mission of Christian Community School is to provide an academically excellent, biblically integrated education which promotes Christ-like character, preparing students to serve God and impact their world for Christ."
Our 4 kids are challenged everyday in the areas of academics, sports, fine arts, discipleship and growing their relationship with Christ. They are shown every day by teachers and staff what it looks like to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind ... Love your neighbor as yourself: Matt 22:37,39.
We thank our LORD often for this community of Christians that we get to do life with.

When we first came to CCS, we were unsure about it because we judged CCS through the eyes of our culture, with a set of expectations about what a school should be. Attending CCS has helped us realize that some of our values were upside down. Now we prioritize the culture of the school above all else. We've been so moved to see other kids show genuine Godly love and concern for our kids and realize that there is no substitute for the Christian culture of CCS. Just as our values were shaped by our culture, our kids will be shaped by the culture of CCS in ways we can't begin to count. When we see our kids at the end of Workathon, all muddy from helping our community, we realize that they are learning to value sacrifice for others. While watching our son worshiping the Lord with all his heart at church, we realize the benefits of CCS go far beyond academics. We realize that there is nothing more important than having our children in this loving, Christian environment.
Although the school does not have all the bells and whistles, like smart boards, or a completely updated building, i know i am getting a great education. As a senior I am getting a great opportunity to lead and i wouldn't trade my experiences their for anything. I have been going there since Kindergarten, going through my 13th year now of what truly is a community school, my class of 13 students is more like family than friends and we each get a really personalized education. One of my favorite experiences is spirit week, it is a relatively new tradition, but leading up to work-a-thon, we have a week of dressing up and wearing weird stuff to match a theme everyday. Its really fun! There are so many things that make this school unique it hard to pick just one. My school is definitely a diamond in the rough, the building is old and not updated at all, but it is clean and safe and really easy to navigate! We are a private school so we do not get funding from the government. That means we are short on money most of the time. To try to compensate, we have one fundraiser every year, called Work-A-Thon, each student works hard to get donations from neighbors, friends, family or whoever to reach an all school goal of around 40,000 dollars. Then, in return, all the students go out into the community on work-a-thin day and they work for free for whoever needs the help: elderly people, disabled people, or just those who cannot do the work themselves for whatever reason. It is really great being able to give back to the community that way. These reasons and many others are why I love my school and would choose it again if I could do it all over again.
