Christ Prep Academy is an amazing school. It is small and low-budget for most things, but the staff and student culture more than make up for it. My freshman year was when COVID hit, and I think the school handled things very well. We continued school on zoom for the rest of the year and the following year we went back to in person school. The first semester was pretty cautious with everyone wearing masks and dividers on the tables. But there were no huge COVID outbreaks at the school. The staff seem to really enjoy working there, and they do their best to walk alongside the student and help them succeed. I went through a time where I needed a lot of academic help, and the school made sure I had access to what I needed in order to excel. Being a private school, the tuition costs are fairly high, but I believe it is worth it. The teachers prepare the students for college by providing high expectations and a rigorous curriculum, and the staff are good at communicating with families.
CPA provides a safe, academically rigorous environment for students to learn and grow. Students are challenged and encouraged to adapt to a university model style of education. This helps them to transition easily to college classes. Athletics are competitive and inclusive.
Student body is nice for the most part. There are definitely some teachers who are absolute gems who check in on you and want you to succeed. Other teachers legitimately should not be allowed to teach, especially for how much we pay to be there. A handful of them are simply incapable of explaining subject concepts but still require you to understand. Bringing a conclusion where students are stressed out and exhausted from teaching themselves complex concepts and being given work loads that wipe them out the second they aren't completely on top of it. Additionally, students are expected to take on extreme classes at a much more advanced level than necessary. This can be a beneficial challenge for students looking to excel in a career such as rocket science, but students looking for a more average, mentally safe and helpful, and enjoyable track, this is usually distressing and in many cases has brought forward unnecessary, unhealthy lifestyle habits for students. And that's the tea...
