It was honestly the most fantastic experience of my life! If i had the choice to go there again I would definitely take up the opportunity to do so. The staff was always helpful and great with the students. We all got along and helped keep each other motivated. It definitely had it's challenges considering the long school hours and occasionally the after school work put into making our creative ambitions become a reality. However it was honestly all worth it because it has shaped us to be disciplined, balanced and lead rigorous lifestyles so that we may accomplish our most highest desires. I hope to one day come back with a Teachers degree to help the school carry out it's goal in giving students affordable support towards their dreams.

I'm currently a senior Visual Artist, and I have to say the Visual Arts program here is phenomenal! I've improved so much as an artist since freshman year, and now I'm preparing myself for applying to an arts college. The college counselor we have is the greatest and she truly cares about the students well being. The community at ChiArts is incredibly diverse and fun, and we are all very accepting of each other as a school. Every year, we have student-run performances such as the Black Culture Showcase, Hispanic culture showcase, Asian American Show, and the LGBTQA+ pride show as well. We don't have sports except for a gym class, but our gym teacher is so cool. Most teachers are great except for a few exceptions, but that's any school.
As a gay man, an African American one at that, my time at ChiArts was spent creatively. A decent portion of the teachers taught there not just to teach but to stimulate young minds in and outside of our artistic practices. There were many hiccups in administration and even among teachers causing unnecessary tension in the school but all in all my four years there were not spent in vain. Because the school has the longest school day in the country due to it being a performing arts school, after-school activities were not really provided, but the school made up for this by allowing us to do so many things during school hours.
