This school has great opportunities to make that first step into a university to further your education. The quality of instructors is adequate. I highly advise researching your instructor before your class if you can. It can be a tremendous amount of help if you have options between instructors for the same class. That way you can get a little preview of what you're going to experience. What makes this school unique is the diversity of it's students, there are always several different ethnicities in a class room. The only problem I have with this school is the quality of the advisors. Most of their advisors don't really know what they're doing. I have heard from countless students that they have had problems with the advisors telling them to take classes that they don't need for their degree/certificate. My experience was the most aggravating though. I was told my very first term in 2013 that the degree I was currently striving to obtain would be transferable to the university I wanted to attend. I was told this several more times that my Associates would be transferable throughout my time at Chemeketa Community College. Although, when I had only six more credits to complete my Associates, I was told by an advisor that everything I have taken at Chemeketa wouldn't transfer out of the state. I spent over $15 thousand dollars on a degree that wouldn't even transfer to where I wanted to further my education. Even though this advisor was the one that told me everything I have worked for was pointless, she was the most helpful advisor I've ever met in Chemeketa's advising center.
I attend chemeketa and I love the teachers and atmosphere . I am here for pre reqs for nursing and so far the school is amazing!
