This is a school that prides itself on college readiness, its graduation rates, and its philosophy of community involvement and lifelong learning. Unfortunately, recent administration changes in Hamilton county and the systems in place in the state of Tennessee have undercut part of the impact of the larger life lessons that this school attempts to teach. As a K-12 student at this school, I was also admittedly coddled, and opportunities beyond the basic state mandated courses are slim, difficult to find, and rely largely on word of mouth. The school also relies on a 7 point grading scale, which works for some but not for others. On the plus side, there are courses available that count towards college credit, some updated facilities and an attempt to integrate technology into the school resources. Most courses are listed as honors. The school is also highly selective but the teachers and staff are amicable and seem to love their jobs.

My experience with Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences is great! If I had a choice to change schools, I wouldn’t because they are preparing me for the future as a young adult.
Great academic experience. All classes are taught at Honors level; therefore, preparation for college is excellent. Very diverse classes, racially. Location of school (downtown) makes it only average for safety. Smaller classes makes it difficult to have major sports programs (no football). Very good overall experience.
