Chattanooga High School Center for the Creative Arts is extremely welcoming to students of all backgrounds, races, gender identities, and sexualities. Teachers are extremely receptive to the feedback and are encouraged to listen to the concerns of their students!
At Center for Creative Arts, There aren’t as many students who get accepted into the school. This is great because it brings more opportunity to get help from teachers, more small group talking, and allows room to show more of your individual self. The school has lots of diversity between the staff, administration, and students. Since CCA has all of the arts, many students feel free to be their naturally artistic selves. Many students travel around the city to perform their special talent to kids in the more rural areas of the city to give kids hope to find their talent and to audition for CCA when the time comes for them. However one thing I’d change about CCA is the lack of communication from the administration about changes being made to the school effecting everyone. They leave little to no room for suggestions. Many people have made complaints about certain issues, but they just ignore many serious problems because “it’s not a good look for the school.”
The school uses the arts as a focus for learning so often assignments are given that can be completed in an artistic way, to play to one's strengths and interests. It is also an accepting school, where students are encouraged to be themselves and explore different aspects of their personalities and characteristics. The only problem with the school is, just like every school, there are some cliques and groups and sometimes people are made to feel left out. However, this behavior is strongly discouraged by the administration, staff and even many of the students. In general, it is a great school!
