Charlotte Country Day School Reviews
Rating 4.12 out of 5 42 reviews
Country Day is an incredible school with excellent teachers, passionate coaches, and a friendly student body. The school fosters a strong sense of community and truly cares about its faculty. Country Day also offers extra-curricular activities that provide students with the opportunity to perform at the highest levels of athletic, artistic, and academic competition. Having completed my freshman year of college, I can easily say that I was better prepared than many of my fellow first year students. Country Day is truly a college preparatory school in every sense—alums will be equipped with the skills they need to thrive in college, provided they are willing to work hard. I can’t think of a better high school to be a student athlete or developing artist or budding scientist than Country Day—the emphasis on the whole of the student is truly remarkable. With all of its strengths, its few weaknesses—bad cafeteria food and a handful of subpar administrators—don’t really register.
I attended CCDS for eight years, but I switched to a public school for highschool. In these eight years, I learned that I will never have a better academic experience than the one I had at CCDS. The way teachers taught students how to think about the deeper meaning behind the material taught is truly unique to Country Day. I loved to learn at CCDS, it was exciting and I was challenged every day. I have easily become bored academically speaking at my new school because teachers only care that I memorize the things for standardized tests. I miss having passionate, experienced teachers. I loved having the opportunity to go to extra tutoring with the teachers for free at least once a week for every subject. I miss feeling satisfied with the work I'm doing. I miss thinking past just memorizing the material. Charlotte Country Day School was a privilege to attend. If you are considering this school, you should go. I will go forth in life with the many skills I acquired at CCDS.
Country Day is the most well-rounded of the private schools in Charlotte. We took a long, hard look at almost all of them and have never regretted our decision. We quickly realized that the families are mostly transplants just like us. CCDS has always challenged my child and held him to a high standard.
