I have been at Country Day since the fourth grade. I am currently going into my senior year and it saddens me that I have to leave. CCDS has been my home for so many years that I can't imagine being without it. The lower, middle, and upper school campuses are extraordinary. The faculty are professionally trained and are always happy to help students. Even the staff are wonderful as they go above and beyond to prepare us the best lunches and keep our hallways clean. Our athletic department is exceptional and the arts department never fails to impress. The issues lie mostly within the administration and with the student body. These members seem to focus more on the dress code and would sooner sensor student voice if it posed a risk to their annual donations. Also, most of the students at this school are white and our ignorant to the issues that we minorities face. Nevertheless, CCDS is a unique school and I would recommend it to anyone.

As a current 8th grader and lifer at Charlotte Country Day School, I can say that this has its pros and its cons, as everything does. The Lower School experience (JK-4) is a first environment where the primary goal of the teachers is building a good character of every one of the kids. Their second goal is to create a necessary and ethical foundation for students be able to prepare for middle school. Unlike most schools in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, middle school starts in the 5th grade. The main reason is to give the students a headstart on middle school compared to the public school system. The majority of teachers at Country day are very kind and caring and are willing to create a relationship with you, the parent and student. This will come in handy when applying to college.
Charlotte Country Day does a tremendous job in preparing it's students for college and the greater world. Whether it is through the diverse course offerings, the IB program, the amazing faculty, the International Studies program, or the access to sports and extracurricular activities, the whole student is embraced and prepared for the 21st-century world. Every student is known and appreciated for what they add to the school community . The academics are rigorous but students are prepared for the next challenge. This school is also blessed to have one of the most amazing and involved Parents's Associations in the country. The sense of community is unparalleled and it is truly a special place.
