The counselors were helpful, but most of the teachers were all over the place. I just wished they took the time to outline the high school and college requirements. But it's all-around average compared to other Boston Public Schools
Charlestown High School is really nice school. The teachers are really nice and they give a lot of support to students. However, it does not prepare you for college very well.
I felt that i wished that my guidance counselors were more caring about my situation other than telling me to take six years to finish high school to have a chance to do anything better.
Charlestown High school was a good school as far as academics go, I've could have been more rigorous in my studies nonetheless. I found the teachers, particularly my 11th-grade ones to be challenging for those first 2 months, not excluding my former teachers, making me step out of my comfort zone and read between the lines. Other than that, I really valued the afterschool programs and field trips the offered! Even though I was shy, I enjoyed the time I spent with my fellow classmates before I had to transfer to another school. I wish I could have stayed as I had serious fun with my friends, and was adjusting to the new routine. I really miss that school, but it's too late now to go back, apparently and unfortunately.
My school is big on school spirit and focused on academic excellence. Every student is welcomed and accepted. Special needs students are treated with respect and are a big part of our schools environment.
Charlestown High School made me realize so much in the 4 years of it. it was indeed a culture shock when entering. at my middle school, it was not very diverse but entering Charlestown, I felt immediately that I fit in. there were lots of clubs to join and very enthusiastic teachers and mentors. The program BUILD that changed my life helped me gain real-world scenarios that I'm very grateful for. The guidance was always pushing up on students to do better and offer moral support with activities and assemblies every month. The students and school spirit were always very fervent, it felt like a community and everyone knew each other's names. I found high school to be like a second home.. not so likable because of work but very tolerable and fun.
If you are not in the top classes, APs and the like, then you'll have a hard time getting the education you need, and even then it's lacking. The majority of the classes are remedial and offer little to no preparation for the college experience.
What I liked about Charlestown High School is the sports in the school, mainly Basketball because basketball is my favorite sport. What I would like to see change in Charlestown High School is the interactions with teachers and students I feel like both teachers and students should have a better relationship in order to develop and grow as a student and to develop as a better teacher.
My schoolwill be the best school in the world since I like it so much!!! Even the school lunch is not that tasty..(but that is free...) But ALL the teachers are super nice!!!
Charlestown High School has been my home for 4 years. I have grown here and have been challenged for the past years. I have learned so much due to the Advanced Placement classes and the grading system.
I like how all of the teachers push the students to try harder and how they make sure you're okay physically mentally and emotionally. The teachers understand our minds and how they work. We are never belittled and seen as less than. To the teachers we are the future and they are preparing us for the future.
I started at this school very late, my senior year, in fact. I was not exactly excited to go to a new school. But the teachers and students do a lot to welcome new students and help make them feel like they have always been part of the community. The diversity is very interesting, even earning a Diversity day that is all about learning about others. There are specific and special classes to help you get ready for college and counselors who make it their job to fulfill your future after leaving high school.
Great teachers and developing performing arts department. The band, chorus and theater classes and after school activities are great!
The teachers are very helpful, they help students reach their potentials. They make sure that the students understand the lesson before moving on.The administrators as well are very encouraging, they encourage students to go to class and further their education. Although it's a progressing school, they lack resources and funding. The school would be better without the reputation previous peers put upon it. In conclusion, the school is a great learning environment and need funding.
So, this is my last year at Charlestown High School and I can not imagine that I almost have to leave and move on to college. Charlestown might not be the best school for everyone but for me, this school gives me the best fours years of my high school. Teachers and staff are amazing, they have a lot energy that will make your day brighter. Thank you for giving me the best four years of my high school, Thank you!!
Everybody there was really friendly. The teachers were more than just teachers they were my friends. They help me to archive my academic goals and after graduation I know they are still there for me.
I love how there's teachers in the school who really care about students education and push them to be he best they can. There is challenging classes students can build their thinking in.
