Throughout your time at CWA, opportunities are presented to you that you would not otherwise imagine. In 7th grade you hike with your teachers, coaches, and classmates along the coast of western Washington. In your sophomore year you make a similar trip to either Mt. Rainier or kayaking in the Puget Sound. At the end of your Senior year you organize your own internship. In addition to these awesome traditions, the high school take an additional two weeks off in the winter for students to get further life experiences. These trips include glass blowing workshops, cultural exchanges oversees, hiking, fishing, and more. The school also hosts an annual international exchange program. My family had the opportunity to host students from half a dozen countries, and I was able to visit three of them in their home countries on Charles Wright trips. With one or two exceptions, all 75 members of my graduating class went on to attend a four year college or university.
Review Charles Wright Academy
We moved to this area from East side of Seattle, and my son was studying in a Nationally reputable charter school in Kirkland area. This charter school is known for its extensive diversity and very competetive academics. Coming from such a background, we were much worried about his high school education in Tacoma area. However, all our concerns turned out to be baseless as soon as he joined CWA. This school provided him a great nurturing, academically challenging, safe and diverse environment. Teachers were very supportive and encouraging. He was given with tailored advanced courses in science and mathematics, based on his prior achievements. Mr. White, the principal of this school is a conventional old timer teacher and he respects all such values and ideology(and we love that). He knows every single student and his/her strengths and weaknesses. I am happy to see my son thriving in such an environment.
Coming from the public school system, I experienced a bit of a culture shock when I started my freshman year at Charles Wright. I was a very shy girl and was used to being ignored if I wasn't attempting to wedge my way into a clique of sorts, so I was completely taken aback when I began the school year and was met with friendly faces everywhere I went! The community here is so welcoming and amiable, bullying is as close to nonexistent as a high school can get. Just walking from class to class I would have several of my peers greet me by name in the halls as I passed by. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced in my schooling before and I firmly believed that socially healthy environment is what nurtured my best qualities to shape who I am today, ready to tackle any challenge that comes my way!

The difference between my freshman self and my senior self is astronomical. While everyone changes and grows throughout their high school careers, I can easily say I would not have grown into someone I can be so proud of today. I have to thank Charles Wright Academy for fostering that great environment keen on aiding one's personal and academic growth for such a wonderful high school experience. I definitely feel ready to continue my journey through life, beginning with college!
