Founded in 1957, Charles Wright Academy is an independent day school in Tacoma where students in Preschool–Grade 12 are nurtured and challenged to develop the character, creativity, and skills to successfully navigate the future with confidence. CWA is an inclusive community valuing integrity, respect, compassion, perseverance, and excellence.

Small classes are led by talented and caring faculty offering academic challenge and support at every stage. Active, experiential, and joyful learning on CWA's beautiful 107-acre campus includes art, music, science, world language, and athletics for all students.

Extensive school bus service includes Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Olympia, and South King County. CWA is accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS).

College Counseling

Led by two full-time college counselors, Charles Wright’s 4-year plan guides students toward college choices that match their unique characters, strengths, and interests. Counselors work one-on-one with fewer than 40 students each in order to meet the needs of each individual, encouraging self-reflection, informed decision-making, and mature communication skills.
