I love Baker High School! There is so much freedom and there are many hangout spots for the students! The food options are nothing like I've ever seen. If it was a normal year the wrap line would be open and you could custom make your own wrap. Now, there is a brand new coffee shop with surprisingly good coffee! All of the faculty/staff are so friendly and are willing to help!
I am a proud alumni of Baker and the baldwinsville district. Baker is definitely a step up from the junior high school. The administration in the highschool care very much about the students and go above and beyond to make sure the school culture is healthy. A student's experience with guidance is dependent on who their counselor is. Most counselors are caring, energetic, and passionate. Some are... ridiculously ignorant to the issues going on with students and do not take some of them seriously. Most teachers here are amazing. Baker has mostly the more seasoned teachers and district favorites working there. Most are passionate about their classes and care for their students. At worst, a teacher may be dull. The history and english departments are amazing. Math/Science/Tech/Art/Language departments are also loved very much. FACs is the only department I believe is lacking. The FACs teachers are rude and inconsiderate, mean to some, and pick favorites. And I WAS a favorite.
Charles W. Baker High School gave me an experience that I can look back on and say with certainty was instrumental to my work ethic and maturity as a student as well as a person. The teachers push students to show themselves what they are capable of and in doing so will help bring out interests they may not have known they had. There was not an exam that students will take that they will say they didn’t feel prepared for if you follow the teachers lessons and review. There is also a long tradition of great sports teams in Baldwinsville. The coaches really institute the concept that you will play how you practice and that athletes not playing for themselves, they are playing for their teammates and representing the town on their jersey. As far as college readiness, Charles W. Baker High School does everything they possibly can to prepare students for the next step.
