I went to Chamblee for all 4 years of high school and overall it was a good experience. Chamblee is a very diverse school and has many different sports and clubs for students to get involved in. Chamblee is a very competitive school academically and it can be very overwhelming at times (don't overload yourself with APs just because all your friends are taking them). There is an overall lack of communication between administration, teachers, and students which caused a lot of frustration and there is a lack of college readiness and support from counselors. There is also a separation of magnet and resident kids which was hard when being a resident kid. I often felt my needs were brushed aside for magnet kids. Overall though, I had a good 4 years. I made lots of friends and had a lot of fun. Remember! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and advocate for your education because they're lot's of teachers who care for you and want to help you succeed here.
Through the several changes of administration, counseling staff, and school policies, the teachers have been wonderful. My teachers created a learning environment that was challenging and engaging, but still supportive. I have taken a mix of AP and non-AP classes, and I will say that most of the AP classes are rigorous and are exam-based. When I took my AP exams, I felt prepared and I scored well.
A lot of the textbooks are outdated, but with the recent introduction of county-provided Chromebooks, they are slowly being replaced by digital ones. Chamblee also has great facilities. Its gym, pool, and athletic fields are great for sports.
From swimming to ornithology, there is something for everyone when it comes to activities. You can even start your own club!
Overall, Chamblee is a great school. There are a few things here and there that can be changed. Maybe more LGBTQ+ awareness and inclusion, or healthier food options.
But in the end, your Chamblee experience is what you make it.

As a student at this school, my experience has been was alright. The staff departments differ from whether care about their students or not. The administration did not engage with students unless to set out consequences. The consequences set on students' disciplinary behaviors do not fit the action. The counseling department does not take the time to communicate with their assigned students and does not know how to respond according. None of the school staff has announced or assisted the junior class of 2022 on college readiness. The academic department is great. The teachers instruct their classes very well and their grading systems are fair. As a school athlete, it's very fun and fairly competitive.
