I love Chain of Lakes (COL)! I really feel like I belong here and everyone is welcoming. Also, the staff and the teachers are awesome. Collegiate really gets every student prepared for college since as a student, one will be taking college classes on Polk State's campus in order to receive not only their high school diploma but also their Associate's degree for free. I have learned a lot here and I am proud to say that I attend this high school. I am honestly sad that this will be my last year at COL. It is the place to be and we are all like a family. Although Chain of Lakes does not have a sports team, they do allow students to play sports at their former high school. Students can also attend basketball games, volleyball games, and more just on the Polk State College campus. This school gives students plenty of freedom and has helped me grow. I honestly can't say that about any other high school I have attended.

As much as I'd like for all kids to have the "1950's Happy Days" type high school experience, unfortunately, that's not the world we live in anymore. While the Collegiate experience isn't as conventional as traditional high school, my two students quickly realized their gain in experience and education was worth the trade-off. They were better challenged academically and transitioned into the college setting seamlessly. They also headed to their out-of-state universities with confidence and an understanding of how the college world works. My only regret is that I was unaware of the Collegiate program when our oldest child was in high school!
Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School has allowed me to get a sense of what college is really like. I was 15 years old when I started my first semester of college, being apart of this high school changed the way that I studied, managed my time and networked. I would encourage everyone to take this opportunity if it is presented to them. The only "negative" feedback that I have is that you won't really have classes with your friends, especially if you have two completely different majors but if that is something that you want then maybe consider becoming friends with people that you have the same major in because then you'll be able to get some of the same classes as they do. I personally did not care for having classes with my friends, I have always been an independent learner. Overall, this school has benefited me a lot, I have so much time on my hands, I am stress free and will be graduating with my AA degree two weeks before graduating and receiving my High School diploma.
