I loved that Cesar Chavez PCHS was a college prep school. My teachers prepared us for the college life after high school . Academically, they gave students assignments that were college level. But socially, they would give us tips and share fun stories related to college. Attending a college prep school is important because it prepares students for the next phase of life and ensures success.

I'm torn in between if I would've choose Chavez Parkside again or left. I would choose Chavez because I've met teachers that wanted me to be successful and helped me get this far. There are some great teachers that taught me life skills and I'm very appreciative of their work. I wouldn't choose Chavez again because the school changed too much. There were new teachers each year and teachers leaving during the academic year. This left students with failed grades and substitutes that only were only place holders and taught nothing. This school year I expect to see new teachers or staff resulting in the school overall finding a new school culture and identity, for another year.
Basketball, Cheerleading, and Volleyball are the top sports at the school. Both teams consist of both Parkside students and Capital Hill students and are nationally recognized. For Basketball there is a Varsity team, a JV team and a Girls team; each often being seen in publications such as the Washington Post. They also have a football team that consists of Parkside, Capital Hill and Idea students. Most of the school spirit revolves around athletics. Many students go out to support the teams and the players. The school even offers fan buses whenever their is a big away game, such as Homecoming. The gym is the school's best athletic facility, it includes 6 basketball hoops that retract from the ceiling and also has a small fitness room and locker rooms for both the boys and the girls. The Volleyball team also uses the gym to practice and for home games. The track team goes and uses Kenilworth track to practice. The Soccer team uses Nevil Thomas Elementary's field to practice and for home games. The football team uses a small field in front of the school and often plays at either Fletcher Field or Ridge Road for home games. There is also a fitness club for anyone at the school and on Saturday they offer classes and allow the gym to be rented and used.
