Overall I like Century High School. There is a good amount of diversity, and plenty of classes for students of all academic levels. There are AP classes as well as regular non honors classes. One flaw in the teachers is that some of them are so irritated with students that do not care, that they take it out on all students. For example they will make comments toward all of us about how no one does their homework when it is only a select few that do not do their homework.

This school lacked diversity in comparison to the other Rochester public high schools. Diversity is important, because it’s a gateway for students to feel included academically and socially. If students don’t feel comfortable due to the lack of diversity, why would anyone expect something good out of the school? I think Century is biased and needs to work on its inclusitivity. But it’s probably an all high schools problem.
Century High School has a very welcoming atmosphere along with amazing teachers who are kind and genuinely interested in the lives of their students. Most classes prepare students well for the AP test, but you have to do your work as a student and seek out help when you need it. Especially for juniors and seniors, most teachers will not come running after you to make up a test or quiz, you have to take the initiative and find them yourself. Sports are great and the band department is phenomenal.
