For four years Century High School became my home. A fairly new school, built in 1997, Century High School showed their teal, black, and, silver pride in its halls, on the field, and for the City of Hillsboro to see. With it's exciting activities, its roaring student body and wonderful staff, Century is a welcoming place for anyone and everyone. Learning became fun in the classroom and it allowed students to voice their opinion without being judged in an uncomfortable manner. With a 86% graduation rate, many students felt prepared for college. Teachers at Century want students to succeed and will do everything they can to see it happen. High school can be fun, it can also be stressful. Though there are great resources for those dealing with stressors and combating mental illness, there lacks an outreach that make students aware of the resources available. Century High School is an amazing school that welcomes students for who they are and allow them to grow into successful adults.

I was an Italian exchange student at Century High School as a senior. I liked the variety of classes at Century, as well as the many clubs and social events. I loved how available the staff was, the principal, the counselors and every teacher I had. My teachers were especially helpful. They were so nice, ready to face any problem, even with my disability (I'm blind). My counselor provided assistive technology and mobility for me to get to every class. My counselor also provided aides to take notes for me and read or scribe for me in testing. They let me participate in the graduation ceremony and let me experience this event just like any American high school student. I made friends with many American students, including the aides, who were often in student government, as well as other international students. I can't think of anything negative I experienced at Century High School. I am so grateful for this experience and now am planning to attend university in Florida.
What I adore about Century High School is the amount of social interaction. After school activities give the students the ability to widen their horizon and become more open. In addition the teachers ability to challenge students academically improves the overall experience, yet there is still a lack in academic choices. I would love to see an improvement in Century High School's classes and the amount of college preparation.
