I absolutely love Central because it is a home! I had the opportunity to be apart of the band program at Central, and we were honored to be named Grand Champions this year! If there was one thing that I would change about Central if I could, it would be to create more diversity between the ethnic groups! We have already included a Black History Month program, but I would like to even broaden the range to include the Hispanic community since they do make up almost a third of the schools population!
Central Lafourche High School is full of pride and accomplishments. There are multiple events and organization that are available to its students. The school has many things to be proud of, especially their band. Yet, there are some things that make the school not receive a perfect rating. For instance, there seems to be a lack of recognition and funding for the arts. This appears to be frustrating since the school is known by community for having impressive awards and placements in events and organizations in regards to the arts. Another problem would be the safety for students. There is racial tension that can be noticed among students and your occasional fights. There are also rules that have been deemed as too extreme by students. One of the rules that have received the most judgement from students states the it is not allowed to drink water in the classroom or even have a water bottle on the desk. Overall, Central is a good school, but it can always be better.
I am satisfied with the 4 years I have spent there. I have been very involved with the award-winning band program, and I have loved every moment of it. The school spirit and the culture is fairly enjoyable. In-class moments are always moving forward and learning is very easy.
