This school provides a decent counselor and education if you get lucky with the teachers, but a lot of them don't actually teach. The cafeteria is kind of filthy and the hallways are always crammed and overpopulated, as well as a lot of locker issues. Admin will not approve of any events, either in or out of school. The classes, sometimes, are dull, and the uniform even more so. It takes on average 2-3 teacher recommendations before a meeting with the admin can be scheduled over anything. The counselor will help you out, but they're mostly focused on seniors. There are absurd school rules that really don't make too much sense, and the classroom temperatures are always either too hot or cold. Besides that, there's a heavy emphasis on grades and most teachers don't consider sleep schedule. most of the students are middle eastern, Indian, or Hispanic, with rarely any other type of eastern Asian.
Great Campus. Great Staff. Very diverse. High Achieving. Supportive Administration. The school places a great deal of emphasis on making sure that students are fully prepared for post-secondary outcomes. The schedule provides built-in time for intervention to make sure that ALL learners are supported. There are great opportunities through Future Cities, Model UN and Robotics for students to get involved in extra-curricular activities.
CJCP has played a big role through my growth and college readiness. The academic classes could be more intriguing, focusing on creative ability rather than rote memorization. Most classes regularly have tests, projects, and quizzes, stressing students out. As for clubs, we have a wide variety but they often don't have structure or funding, as with the art and music programs. Almost everyone who graduates goes to a 4 year college because CJCP does a lot to help students for college, such as a College Mentorship Program & Test Prep Classes. Many AP and Dual-Enrollment classes are given. The teachers are friendly and easy-going but could be given more flexibility with lesson plans. The students are generally nice and you could form close friendships with many people, as I did in my past few years here. The student population is small, allowing for a close community for it's students. I have definitely gained a lot of experience in academics here and social skills as well.
