Central is a good rural school. The academics are good as well as the teachers who teach those academics to their students. Our school has taken many steps to be a safe school. We have cameras, automatic locks on office entrances, a computer check in that must be done before entering our school if a visitor, as well as a Resource Officer among other things. The students take pride in being a "scarlet dragon" and most of the students are caring and hardworking.
I had a good experience at Central High School in Martinsburg, Pa. My teachers were very willing to help me when I needed. I was on the track team for 4 years and in my senior year I qualified for our state level discus throwing competition. My track coach made special arrangements for the opportunity because I was the only one from my high school that qualified. I feel I got a good education at Central.
I think the school really focuses on advancement after high school and that is a good thing. I would like to see the policies change. The controlling rope that the administration holds on the students ruins the atmosphere completely. The administration worries whether or not you have a drink in the hallway, but they completely ignore the constant discrimination of non-white students. The school needs to educate us for the world, not just to pass standardized tests.
