My experience at Center Hill High School was alright. I did enjoy some of my teachers, which were the ones who were in charge of AP classes or music classes, but the majority of the other teachers were subpar. The history department really struggles because the majority of the teachers there are actually coaches, which affects the learning environment greatly. It is quiet obvious that those teachers were there to coach whatever sport they were apart of instead of being there to teach and educate the students. This led to dull, boring classes where I felt unmotivated to learn and only memorized what I needed to before forgetting it. The majority of the textbooks were extremely out of date, and a lot of them were falling apart, which was quite a hindrance to my educational experience. It is quite clear that the school prioritizes the sports teams over the fine arts department due to how much fundraising we had to do.
Center Hill High School is just what it's most famous slogan says, Mustang Pride! Center Hill goes above and beyond to give opportunities to every student in the building. The school continues to add classes, clubs, and much more for all the current and future students that continue to pour in. Administrators and staff are heavily devoted to the betterment of the students and their environment. The only improvement would be more traditions for years to come.
I had a great experience at CHS. Both the facility and staff were supportive of the students current ambitions and success. They encourage students to participate in both academic and extra curriculum activities to ensure we were well rounded. The only improvement that I would recommend, will be more college readiness resources. Access to scholarship information and financial aid planning will be helpful during the junior year. College application process, essay development, and career readiness should be covered as well per senior year. Support and direction early could prevent senior year stress and burnout. Partnering with local non-profit organizations and companies to help promote college and career preparedness will be of value.
