Despite their effort to enforce strict rules, students feel unsafe. From huge, loud crowds, to placid remarks by fellow students you pass, the accessibility that the students have to commit damaging actions is unacceptable. Many students have leeway to execute heinous actions; which include but are not limited to drug use, hazing and physical harassment, theft, and vandalism. With this reign of inappropriate actions come consequences to all, which is understandable but unfair for the greater populace who respect and obey the rules of the school. There should be more cameras implemented throughout the school along with heavy monitoring. Unfortunately, many staff are oblivious to the criminal activity that their students commit! The meal plans for lunch and breakfast have no nutritional value. It's unacceptable that every day of the week pizza and burgers are served, yet we don't have a simple salad or fruit bar?! Students should feel comfortable with what they put inside their bodies.
I have very fond memories of this school as I was very involved! I feel it was average overall. Some courses had great teachers who truly did prepare me for college (AP/DUAL classes), however as a whole I felt that academically this school is lacking.
As a highly involved student at Ellison, I enjoyed much of my participation in various clubs and sports. Learning to prosper in such a diverse school, I found my place in numerous leadership positions. I would very much like to thank all my friends and teachers, who have influenced my success today. I recommend this school district and more specifically, Ellison high school, to military families, as The Great Place is not too far. Go Eagles!
