My child attends Carrollton Middle School, and it has been a very positive experience. Teachers have pushed him to work to his potential. They challenge him academically and help him to grow socially. The staff is amazing and truly cares about kids!
I transferred my child to a private school at the beginning of his middle school years. He was put into a class where he was not challenged and had many children with known behavior problems. My child was a pawn to make the "numbers work". The school was not at all accommodating in trying to get my child in to a class where he would be more challenged, academically. We decided to transfer him to a private school. He could barely read when we left Carrollton and within 2-3 weeks at his new school his reading had improved DRAMATICALLY!! Carrollton needs to worry more about the child instead of the numbers for state requirements/funding.
The children seem to all get along well. Carrollton is very diverse racially and economically. The children, especially in the elementary and middle school years, seem to form friendships that look beyond their differences. By junior high, I believe prejudices begin to emerge on all angles, however, it is not in a threatening manner but more of a social manner.
