This is a wonderful middle school; I cannot imagine any better one! It is in a modern new building on Kirkwood Boulevard and all of the rooms and resources are the best quality. The teachers love working there and the administrators make sure everyone is having their best experience. If you have the opportunity to send your kids to Carroll Middle School in Southlake, you are extremely fortunate. The band, athletic, theater, and choir departments at Carroll Middle are the best of the best. Carroll Middle was truly the hallmark of my educational career because Durham, CHS, and CSHS could not hold a candle.
Amazing school. It has been an outstanding experience. A challenging school, thus the rigorous programs are excellent.
Academically, the school is great, but the admin is pretty awful. They break confidentiality quite often, and seem to care a lot more about appearance than quality of education. We have been told that there was a student withheld from taking an exam because they had colored hair on the very last day of class. Also, there is selective dress coding. The only students that seem to get dress coded, are the ones who look less 'clean cut' than the others. For example, girls around the school would consistently break dress code by wearing shorts that came up much more than half the thigh, as well as covering that up with a long shirt (usually an expensive brand) on top, never getting dress-coded; but as soon as a less bourgeois person wears a skirt that is more than half up, or shows a bra strap on accident, they are not only told to change, but scolded by the vice principal.
The counselors reveal information to staff without contacting a parent, even information that is covered by confidentiality law. They also have a tendency to not investigate any situation brought to their attention, and have a victim-blaming complex.
I will reiterate that the school's education is top-quality, but unfortunately the administration falls very far short.
