Overall it is a great school. While the academics are excellent, the environment is quite polarizing and exclusive for a public school. It is located in an extremely wealthy liberal environment where both teachers and students preach about diversity and equality but don't really understand the actual concepts as they are from wealthy and highly educated backgrounds. Many students and teachers are rather out of touch with the real world which I believe harms the student body in the long run. Over involved parents moderate everything that goes on in the school and those with more involved parents seem to be the kids who the admin is overly willing to step out of the way for. The 'bubble' the school is in provides a great learning environment but what is that worth if their students can't function in the real world.

Carrboro High School is a pretty good school with a lot of great teachers. The majority of the teachers are great at helping all of their students learn all the content but on the rare occasion there are some teachers who aren’t as great at teaching certain kids. Certain kids aren’t as focused due to issues such as learning disabilities, mental health and even problems at home. Most teachers will check in on these kids to help them get to where they should be in the class but some feel as though it’s on the student. Usually for me if I was ever falling behind a little in class I would just talk to the teacher after class and we worked on a plan to fix the situation.
Carrboro High School has a great group of teachers who are interested in being a support in their student's lives, not just an authority figure. The school is relatively new, and has a lot of resources including a very nice library and personal computers for the students. The most major issues I have found are that the school does not do its part in trying to make sure a diverse group of students are enrolled in the different levels of classes, causing the student body to be very separated. It would be great if there were more programs that allowed for the student body to be more united.
