The class size is small and you're able to get 1 on 1 help when you need it. However, mixture of both middle and high school proves a problem for highschoolers. Highschoolers are often times put at a loss in certain situations simply because their older age scares the younger students. In retrospect, it makes sense. It becomes a problem when it favors the wants and needs of the younger children over that of the older ones, or when it puts the older students at an obvious disadvantage.
The school also has difficulty retaining teachers. A small school that isn't popularly known amongst the public makes for a perfect backup plan for students that don't particularly thrive at a large public school. Often times those same students don't thrive here either.

Carpe Diem is more based on the academic aspect of school, rather than extracurriculars and clubs. Although we have some clubs, there are not very many and we do not get as involved in out-of-school activities are most schools do. We have no sports teams currently, and I believe that many students would enjoy being more active in sports and/or extracurricular activities.
Most of the teachers at Carpe Diem want to see the students succeed and go out of their way to assist them. They are active in the students academic life and will confront the students if they feel they need an extra push. If you are struggling in a particular area, they notice and will come to you before you earn a bad grade. The most impressive teachers are the Science, Social Studies and Math instructors. The language arts instructor tends to rely on the digital instruction and doesn't assist students when necessary. Otherwise, Carpe Diem would be top notch!
