Carlsbad High School Reviews

Overall a pretty solid school. Definitely some issues with certain teachers and how they treat students, but otherwise the teachers were fine. A few teachers were also fantastic, they taught the subjects in depth and well and they answered questions and were eager to help their students. It’s close to the beach and Carlsbad Village which is nice when it gets hot out. Football games and dances are extremely well put together and are super fun and filled with high energy. Overall, not too much to complain about!
Carlsbad High School gave me the cliche high school movie experience everyone dreams of. Starting off as a freshman I was still in that awkward stage of growing and maturing. As my journey at Carlsbad continued, new electives and programs allowed me to open myself up to new experiences. I met so many people that I can proudly say will be lifelong friends. The cheer program has become my family forever. My cheer coaches and counselors gave me the support I needed to push through the challenges I was faced with. Some of the teachers would put us down, while others were nothing but kind. Football games gave all of us students something to truly be excited for. Winning student section competitions, competing against multiple schools was an amazing thing to see. Time truly does fly by fast. I regret a lot of my decisions in life.. But one choice I do not regret is picking Carlsbad High School.
The best part of my experience at Carlsbad High school has been playing violin in our chamber orchestra. Our teacher, Mrs. Allen, is incredibly kind and makes the classroom feel like a place of community and safety. The worst part of my experience is the casual racism and homophobia that takes place on campus. Many students make harmful jokes without realizing the impact of their words. I would like to see our campus become more welcoming to LGBTQ+ people and people of color.
