From bass fishing to friendship connection club there is something available for everyone at Sandburg! In addition, the resources provided to students are awesome; this includes the tutoring centers, 2nd period advisory, and the media and printing centers. What makes Sandburg stand out is that everyone is there to help you succeed. It's hard to mention Sandburg without mentioning my principal, Mrs. Jen Tyrell. She puts effort into knowing EVERY student and makes them feel special, which is especially important in this sensitive time of mental health. She attends every school event there is, from state competitions 2 hours away, to the school's talent show in the performing arts center. Saying goodbye in a few months is going to be hard because I won't want to leave this positive atmosphere. From the free-hot-chocolate-Fridays in December, to dunking Mrs. Tyrell in a dunk tank during homecoming week, to Relay for Life, Sandburg has made my last four years unforgettable.
Carl Sandburg High School was the high school that I attended for four years. This high school was like a home away from home, the entire staff was super kind and the principal was unlike any principal before. She changed the entire school. She brought the school spirit levels to their highest and attended as many school events as she could. This school offers so many activities and clubs that anyone is able to join or support. Even if you can't find a club that you are interested in, you can always create your own! There are so many ways to get involved and everyone is so generous that they would be willing to help you find your passion. The school's student fan section is off the charts! The surrounding areas always support school events and fund events that are able to happen at the school. Sandburg hosts Relay For Life every year on their very own football field! This school would do anything for any student and I am so sad that my senior year got cut short due to the virus.
