Cardinal Newman School Reviews
Rating 3.85 out of 5 75 reviews
Excellent school, for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. For any family who wants to truly prepare their child for college! This is the place. It's like a small family. Everyone knows everyone and looks out for each other. So many opportunities for parents to get involved, if they want to. Lots of clubs and activities in addition to sports for students to get involved in. Amazing fine arts department!
All three of my children attended Cardinal Newman Highschool. All three were accepted into competitive in and out-of-state National Universities. In my humble opinion, it is the best private education value considering academics, athletics, and extracurricular education in the Columbia Metropolitan area.
There is always a concern that a religious affiliated school will push their beliefs on it's students and it will overshadow a diverse education. While there is no doubt that religion and faith is emphasized at Cardinal Newman, it did not overshadow the process of education to a college prep level. The facilities are state of the art and brand new and the school is very well-endowed by donors. Over $28M in scholarships was awarded in my youngest daughter's graduating class. Several students were accepted into top 20 national and ivy league universities including US Military Academy appointments, Duke and Vanderbilt University, Stanford, and University of Virginia.

Cardinal Newman is a wonderful, faith based private catholic school with highly rated academics and very competitive sports activities. You do not have to be a practicing Catholic to attend the school or the be an integral part of the catholic practices and observances. The curriculum will prepare your children for the challenges of college and the teachers are very professional and approachable. The facilities are second to none and the clubs and retreats are enthusiastically supported by the students. Both of our children have been very active in sports, the arts, clubs, fundraisers, and advanced academic activities at CN. We have never once regretted choosing this school and would encourage anyone to consider Cardinal Newman as an option if you are interested in private education.
