Rating 4.12 out of 5 242 reviews
Cardinal Gibbons is a school that, while having strong academics and support for sporting events, sometimes has a lack of creativity or support for the arts. Everything about the school looks the same, and there is little creative freedom that can be taken with things like clubs. Because of it being a Catholic school, I often felt unsafe expressing myself as an LGBTQ minority, as there is very little to no support for that at all. Despite all that, I have been able to meet some great people through doing the theater program and it is an experience that I will carry through the rest of my life. I felt the school helped set me up well for college, and provided support for the application process. While my time at Cardinal Gibbons has been nice, I can't wait to see what awaits me in university.
As a rising senior, I believe Gibbons has completely transformed my life. When I started, it was in the middle of COVID, and my freshman year experience, though hampered, was fantastic, and I met some of my best friends that year. My sophomore year continued this great high school journey; I met so many people and reconnected with old friends. During my junior year, I was loaded with 5 AP classes, but the strong friends Gibbons let me build gave me an outlet and support system to keep my sanity. As far as academics, I have not had a bad teacher at Gibbons. Every single teacher I have had here has been utterly fantastic in every single way, especially my AP World, APUSH, and AP Physics C teachers. My academic journey at Gibbons has been filled with challenging topics/classes, interesting concepts, and mature peers that want to do well but also want to see you do well. My Gibbons experience has been nothing less than fantastic, which doesn't even include any extracurriculars I did.
Cardinal Gibbons has been a great experience for me! I have met amazing people and been provided with unique opportunity's. A sense of community is very important at Cardinal Gibbons and even though it is a big school, it has the community of a smaller school.
