Capital High school is one of the most diverse schools in the district, with people from around 11 other countries, and this greatly contributed to the amazing community they established. For the most part, the academics and teachers have been great with little issues. On the contrary, their facilities are quite outdated which do cause problems from time to time, like faulty computers and older buildings that aren't the cleanest. For those who like sports, Capital is unfortunately not the place. For many of the sports, the teams have been mediocre at best with mostly losing seasons.
Capital Senior High School is an overall safe and wonderful place to attend. Although it does lack in diversity which causes the lack of culture, the people, administration and teachers are pretty good. Capital only prepares you for college if you are involved in a program called AVID which really helped me. The teacher and administration are good but I would stay away from the food.
For the state of Idaho, Capital is very education minded and advanced in meeting the needs of their students. I personally loved my experience. Here are a few positive things to note:
-The school is very diverse and doesn't present any discrimination issues.
-The staff are all insightful on their college experiences.
-Lots of AP!
-The atmosphere is relaxed. You can go where you want at lunch and don't need to stress about an overbearing administration.
-Capital has many unique traditions to differentiate themselves from other schools.
And of course, there a few suggestions of change:
-I wish sometimes the teachers would focus more on meeting the needs of their students, not the district.
-Most of the staff has a strong political bias. It gets old..
Overall, I'd highly recommend that a student attends Capital if they're focused on their education, but want a stress-free environment.
