Capital Christian School Reviews
Rating 3.96 out of 5 121 reviews
I've attended Capital since preschool. I've had great teachers throughout elementary and middle school. In high school, there was a decrease in the quality of teachers. I've had four excellent teachers, two of which taught English. In my senior year, the quality of teaching is substantially low. My current AP Lit teacher, who was hired due to football ties, gave us an essay he wrote in college as an example. Needless to say, he was forced to take it down due to how bad it was. All the school cares about is sports, as that is what they cater to the most. If you want a good education, it would be best to search elsewhere. The fact that the school calls itself "college preparatory" makes me laugh, as I do not feel prepared for college by them. On a spiritual Christian level, they would lean toward below-average. Student-ran chapels have been taken over by the church, including an adult that had inappropriate conversations with a student. All that said, it'd be best to search elsewhere.
I have three children attending CCS: 1st, 3rd and 10th grades. My 10th grader began at the school in 5th grade. Our experience through middle, elementary and high school has been outstanding. My 9th grader has had the opportunity to participate in student government, take an AP class (and passed the AP exam to earn college credit!), plays 3 sports and enjoys a campus climate that is welcoming and supportive. He also participated in a Law Academy program, where he was able to visit the local state and federal courts, learn from attorneys and judges, and learn how to read legal cases. It was an incredible opportunity for a high school student. Our kids have all enjoyed the support of deeply committed teachers, who show a sincere interest in their success and growth academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. The school employs full time campus security and we feel extremely comfortable with the campus safety plan. The new Head of School, Tim Wong, is outstanding!
CCHS is a great school! I am just beginning my sophomore year and I have attended the school since 5th grade. I love that it is a small high school, that helps create a great community where all students are able to participate in activities and sports. I was able to play 3 sports my freshman year, take an AP class (and I passed the AP exam to get college credit!) and I am involved in student government. Our campus is very diverse, with students from all racial and socio-economic backgrounds. My friends live all over the Sacramento region. I am grateful to have a Christian perspective offered in all of my classes too - I am learning to work hard to see things from different perspectives and to be respectful of others. Our teachers are one of the best things about CCHS. They are caring and dedicated to helping us learn and develop into great people and leaders.
