Overall, Capo Valley High School has been one of the best experiences of my life. Before coming into high school, I was a very shy and anxious person. I was reluctant to socialize and often found myself in the safety of my own room. Going into my freshman and sophomore years, I knew virtually no one and felt isolated because of COVID. However, after the first few months of sophomore year, I started to climb out of my comfort zone and start to put myself out there. Capo has provided me with some of my closest friends and has allowed me to grow as a person. I am now a very outgoing and social person who is involved with the executive board of ASB, NHS, CSF, and Key Club. I have been the captain of the Varsity Volleyball Team since 10th grade and have been on that team since 9th grade. I absolutely love Capo for its welcoming and diverse environment and am super excited for my senior year!
My parents and all 4 of my aunts and uncles are alumni of Capo high school. The teachers and the school itself were great, I always had caring and helpful teachers and guidance counselor’s . I did experience some cyber bullying which happened my junior year. It was a devastating time which caused me anxiety and depression. I feel like the school should have handled it better and the group of kids really only got a talking to. When there is a zero tolerance for bullying, the lack of consequences in my case showed that was not the case.
This school was overall amazing. The teachers were incredible. The counselors were also amazing and the other staff were all great people aswell. I could see in my eyes that they were all genuinely happy to be there and wanted the best for the kids. the school has so many programs to help the students get into good colleges which most school in the area do not have However, the school does not lack in amazing staff and opportunities it does in cleanliness and operational stuff. For example, the halls are really dirty. especially the bathrooms, they are so unbelievably dirty you can’t even go into them the vending machines break quite often, the power might go off sometimes and the air conditioning was not operating for around a month and a half towards the beginning of the school year and at least once or twice a week the fire alarm goes off having a very unpleasant noise for everyone to hearbut overall, if I had a kid, I would definitely feel comfortable sending them to this school.
