From Cape Henry Collegiate

Located on a 30-acre campus in a residential area within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Henry Collegiate serves approximately 1065 students.

The academically challenging curriculum is responsive to each child's needs and is supported by a strong honor code. The educational process not only prepares students for college, but for life and work beyond. The Lower School strives to develop self-esteem and to build a sense of responsibility toward others. It encourages independent thinking within a solid academic foundation.

The Middle and Upper Schools provide students with the skills, attitudes, and character development they need to succeed in competitive colleges and universities. Advanced Placement, and Honors classes are available in all disciplines in the Upper School.

Cape Henry Collegiate is proud to announce that 18 members of the Class of 2024 will be formally inducted into the Cum Laude Society. The Society was founded in 1906 to recognize the scholastic achievement of seniors in secondary schools. Hosting a chapter is a distinction and a privilege that only 382 schools across the country, including Cape Henry, have been granted.

As a military family we have had our children in a number of different schools. CHC stands out as one of the best schools they’ve attended due to the engaging community and the high level of academics. The faculty engages with the kids and meets them at their level providing excellent instruction. There is ample opportunity to be challenged as well as receive support when necessary in academics and in athletics and the arts. We have been so pleased with the vast array of opportunities our children can partake in. We love the idea of keeping them in the same school for lower, middle and upper school. The entire staff is caring, committed, and invested in the students. We’ve enjoyed getting to know many of the families throughout our time at CHC. Our children love going to school and have excelled academically and socially thanks to the support of the teachers and staff.

Review Cape Henry Collegiate

I have been a part of the Cape Henry community for over 37 years! Starting as a student in the 3rd grade, alumni and now parent! I will be honest we did visit other area schools when we were deciding where to send our first born...and after doing our due diligence decided Cape was still the best fit for our family! He has since graduated and just finished his first year at The University of Virginia with flying colors! We continue to be parents with three younger students still enrolled and are beyond pleased with the academic curriculum! But for us, developing a love of learning and having happy well rounded children is the most important thing! With this Cape Henry delivers! My children are encouraged to get involved in all areas of the community...sports, forensics, theatre, volunteering etc! I truly believe that Cape Henry lives up to its mission to develop global thinkers! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for each of them!

Cape's four core values are scholarship, opportunity, integrity, and community. Each of these values is forever embedded throughout the campus and greatly achieved by all alumni. I've felt unlimited opportunity at Cape, with an infinite amount of career choices to pursue on my way out, each of which the administration will work hard to prepare you for. The community couldn't be stronger, there is not one student or staff member that doesn't care strongly for those around them on campus. With teachers who simply couldn't work any harder or smile any more, it's hard to not to achieve great success at CHC.
